Now that regular league play is over, the Twisters have to play a qualifier match to stay in their current league.

This was a home game for the Twisters and there was a crowd of 15,193.

Now it’s time to get to training and show a better force next season.

Season 37 Last Game – 1/12

Yep another loss..  0-5 to be exact.

But some good news, I finished 6th in our league which means I get 1 more chance to play and win to stay up in that division.

No goals, no injuries and no cards is the best news, although I was really hoping to score at least 1 goal.  Twisters will have to play a qualifier match to be able to stay in the current division.

Changes Being Made

1/13/09 – Press Release:

FC Twisters owner today sacked the coach Pekka Kankkonen after showing lack of a solid training program and a dismal season.  The Twisters hired a young coach named Immanuel Niemann to take over training and coaching and hoping to bring some long term changes to the team.

League Game – 1/4/09

FC Twisters started off pretty well against the Chesapeake Dawgs. It was nearly a sell out at Thunder Stadium. This was the second to last game of the season.

The Twisters just could not hold it together long enough for the draw let alone a win, but only lost by one. Final was 0:1. Last time these two teams matched up the Twisters lost 0:6 so there have been some improvements.

11-24 League Play

FC Twisters vs. BSCLV

Today’s match was played at BSCLV’s home stadium in front of a crowd of 27,220

Twisters had a team meeting prior to the match in the locker room discussing the tactics to use in the match since they were the underdogs and being away from home the cards were not stacked in their favor.  Some gambling sites had rumored that the twisters would not even make a goal during the match.

To everyones surprise, the Twisters came out on top with a 2-1 victory.  The Twisters was overheard saying the following at the after game presser:

We are surprised that our team pulled a victory today against a team we thought was likely to beat us.  With the addition of A.Bourez prior to the game helped out our front line and scoring opportunities.  We are pleased with the staff and the team as we now prepare for a multi-week tournament and still keeping on top of our game with the last half of our current season.

11-17 League Play

FC Twisters hosted Crohns at Thunder Stadium for the next league matchup of the season.  The skies were gray and overcast but it didn’t stop the fans filling up all the seats in the house.

The first goal of the game came at the 14′ mark and Bud Hanley put it away.  Felix Botello was the high scorer with 2 goals.

League Play Tonight

It’s another home game for the Twisters.  With there first win last week of the season, the Twisters are looking for a repeat win as they play a closely matched opponent.

Will post some results after the match.  Kickoff in a couple of hours.

11-3 League Play

FC Twisters were at home playing against AC Speedball under a partly cloudy day.  18598 were in attendance to watch the Twisters lose their 4 league game in a row.  The Twisters still sit in 7thplace with 0 points and -13 goal diff against them.

AC Speedball is a really good team and hit us for a 1:5 loss.

Anders Robinsson (who was newly acquired) scored the only goal for the Twisters at minute 79.

Twisters Owner was heard saying, “We continue to play well, however the league we were placed in is far better skilled than ours.  We continue to hope for a win in this league.  We just hope we don’t lose many fans in the process.”

League Play Coming Up

11-3 is the next league game for the Twisters. They face off at home against AC Speedball (229758).

The Twisters have been facing some tough teams and do believe this will be another tough challenge. According to the stats AC Speedball is running a starting lineup of 57 Stars where the twisters are averaging about 34. The cards are stacked against them, but as long as the twisters can hold there own and get at least a couple of goals and keep their goals to a minimum then it will still be a great learning experience in this league. Not to mention that they have to stay above the last place team, Kansas City United.
