Season #37 Ending

Now that regular league play is over, the Twisters have to play a qualifier match to stay in their current league.

This was a home game for the Twisters and there was a crowd of 15,193.

With winning this qualifier game, the Twisters will remain in V.152 for at least 1 more season.

Now it’s time to get to training and show a better force next season.

Season 37 Last Game – 1/12

Yep another loss..  0-5 to be exact.

But some good news, I finished 6th in our league which means I get 1 more chance to play and win to stay up in that division.

No goals, no injuries and no cards is the best news, although I was really hoping to score at least 1 goal.  Twisters will have to play a qualifier match to be able to stay in the current division.

Changes Being Made

1/13/09 – Press Release:

FC Twisters owner today sacked the coach Pekka Kankkonen after showing lack of a solid training program and a dismal season.  The Twisters hired a young coach named Immanuel Niemann to take over training and coaching and hoping to bring some long term changes to the team.

Season 37 winding down

So with one game remaining the season is coming down to an end.  With the team moving up to a new division this season, I have to say we did OK.  Although we are not out of the woods just yet as we will have to play a qualifier to stay in the same division.

Although after learning some new things I wouldn’t too upset if I dropped back down to VI but let’s just see what happens in the qualifier.

FC Twisters still needs to drop some dead weight and work on their youth squad, but things are still looking pretty good.

Senior Squad Friendly – 1/7

FC Twisters played a friendly in Zürich against *Pegasus*

The Twisters lost 0-2.

“The main reason for the loss being the players we fielded,” the manager said.  “Since we are moving toward the end of the season we wanted to get some of our backup squad on the pitch to game some game time and some training.”

Youth Squad Friendly – 1/5/09

Youth squad had a friendly match today against the crawlers and pulled out a draw.

League Game – 1/4/09

FC Twisters started off pretty well against the Chesapeake Dawgs. It was nearly a sell out at Thunder Stadium. This was the second to last game of the season.

The Twisters just could not hold it together long enough for the draw let alone a win, but only lost by one. Final was 0:1. Last time these two teams matched up the Twisters lost 0:6 so there have been some improvements.

Twisters went up against Crohns this time playing at their stadium and the outcome wasn’t as good as the last one. The match ended up with a draw 2-2.

“We are trying to figure out why we pulled out a draw when our last meet up was 5-0 win.  I guess it’s time to head back to the training pitch to sort out a few things.”

11-24 League Play

FC Twisters vs. BSCLV

Today’s match was played at BSCLV’s home stadium in front of a crowd of 27,220

Twisters had a team meeting prior to the match in the locker room discussing the tactics to use in the match since they were the underdogs and being away from home the cards were not stacked in their favor.  Some gambling sites had rumored that the twisters would not even make a goal during the match.

To everyones surprise, the Twisters came out on top with a 2-1 victory.  The Twisters was overheard saying the following at the after game presser:

We are surprised that our team pulled a victory today against a team we thought was likely to beat us.  With the addition of A.Bourez prior to the game helped out our front line and scoring opportunities.  We are pleased with the staff and the team as we now prepare for a multi-week tournament and still keeping on top of our game with the last half of our current season.

Twisters hosted Spenótpuszedli for a nice friendly match.

2420 showed up in the rain to watch their home team.

Twisters mostly started their ‘B’ team to get some of the non experienced players some playing time.
